When first looking for a WordPress host, it is not uncommon behavior to be attracted to hosts which boast unlimited and unmetered plans, but as always, not all that glitters is gold.
Above is a screenshot of A2 Hosting’s plans; as you can see they claim that they offer unlimited websites, databases, storage, and transfer. This could not be further from the truth.
I was also initially interested in this plan, so I reached out to A2 Hosting to ask them what was going on, and how much storage they actually support. After some stupid back and forth in the form of canned responses that they use for customers which ask this questions (in an effort to mislead them) I eventually got a proper response.
The final response said that they generally only allow users to host between 10 GB to 20 GB, which is very far from unlimited.
Personally, I think that it is criminal and immoral to mislead customers by claiming that you offer something which you actually don’t, yet so many other hosts have done it and still do. Unfortunately, there’s nothing and nobody that can stop them because they use vague terms and conditions to make what they are doing acceptable by legal standards.
The only thing you can really do is make sure to watch out for deceptive, fraudulent and lying web hosts like this and never even consider them as a viable option.
